About Okyo

A Full-Service Interior Design Studio with an integrated construction department

At Okyo, we design, build and realize exclusive total projects. From thoughtful design to refined finishing. Everything with an eye for aesthetics, comfort and timeless class. We create elegant spaces that not only inspire, but where you truly feel at home.

Founded in 2009 by Jochen Magyar, Okyo began as an interior design firm with a clear vision: to create timeless designs in which architecture and interiors form a harmonious whole. Over the years, Okyo grew into a multidisciplinary firm in which both the creative and technical aspects merge.
Our expertise ranges from exclusive residential projects to high-end commercial and medical environments. We create interiors and architectural spaces for villa construction, doctor and dentist offices, group practices, pharmacies, offices, showrooms, hospitality concepts and boutiques. Each project is developed with the same precision and care, regardless of scale or complexity.

Jochen's passion for design always went hand in hand with an equal appreciation for craftsmanship, technical finesse and execution. He wanted not only to set the creative line, but also to take control of the realization himself in order to fully master the translation from design to execution. Therefore, in 2009, parallel to the interior architecture studio, he founded Okyo's building department on. This integrated process ensures that architecture, interior design and execution blend seamlessly, without compromise in quality or aesthetics.

Okyo is a registered contractor for complete construction and interior design projects and is affiliated with Buildwise (formerly WTCB). This organization supports construction professionals in increasing quality, productivity and sustainability and encourages innovation within the industry.

Origins & evolution

Jochen Magyar grew up in Bolderberg, near the circuit of Zolder, in an environment where art and craft played a major role. His mother was active in an art group that brought together painters and sculptors, which sharpened his sense of composition, materiality and proportions at an early age. This was the beginning of a fascination that continued to deepen into architecture, interior design and craftsmanship.

His education began at the Art school in Genk, where he started in the Artistic Training and later specialized in Spatial Design. Here he developed a keen eye for balance and architectural composition and had the opportunity to experiment with different disciplines. During his studies at St. Luke's Luca School of Arts, where he immersed himself in interior design, he came in contact with Koen Deprez, an architect and artist with a distinct vision of the interplay between graphics, architecture and spatial concepts. During this period he was also taught by Flemish designer and industrial designer Michael Verheyden, whose understated formal language and attention to materials made a deep impression.

His search for more variety and layering in design led him to Sars-Poteries, France, where he immersed himself in glass art. To further expand his knowledge, he took the course Candidacy in Architecture to Saint-Lucas Brussels, where he further honed his understanding of spatial relationships and structures.

His professional career brought him into contact with various facets of interior design and furniture construction. At furniture artist Casimir refined his knowledge of woodworking and learned how craft and precision form the basis of timeless design. At Soho Design in Zonhoven, he worked on textile and hospitality projects, where he gained a deeper understanding of creating commercial spaces and convivial meeting places.

Later, Jochen worked for a specialized interior designer who made the interiors and furniture pieces for Vincent Van Duysen produced, installed and built. Here he grew his technical expertise in custom and interior construction, learning how subtle detailing and material connections determine the spatial quality of a design. Subsequently, he gained experience at the furniture manufacturer Jonform & Sur Plus in Genk, a company that collaborates with renowned designers. Here he collaborated on technical drawings and the development of high-quality furniture pieces, where he could closely follow the production process.

During his studies, other creative individuals also crossed his path, including Pieter Mulier, who later became creative director at Alaïa and for many years was the right-hand man of Raf Simons at Dior. The intersections between architecture, fashion and design during their training made for fascinating conversations and confirmed how these disciplines are an extension of each other. Thinking in structures, proportions and materials, whether in fashion or interior design, follows the same principles of nuance and balance.

Over the years, meetings with inspiring people, collaboration with professionals, and training and internships at home and abroad have shaped Jochen into the designer he is today. His style is a fusion of architectural precision, refined materiality and a thorough attention to detail, always with the understanding that good design comes from a deep understanding of space and the way people live.
With a growing portfolio and a sophisticated signature, it continues to Okyo strive for the essentials in interior design and architecture.

In addition to his interest in materials and construction, his passion for vintage cars and classic mechanics up with the circuit of Zolder in his backyard. Working on his own vintage cars became a way to fully immerse himself in technique and craftsmanship, but also a form of focus and relaxation. By training in bodywork, he learned to give lost pieces their value back a patient quest for precision, timelessness and restoration of pure craft which is also reflected in Okyo's renovation projects.

They are currently working on a new chapter: the development of their first easychair, in collaboration with Casimir Ateliers in Antwerp. This piece of furniture, to be launched in 2026, embodies Okyo's core values: timelessness, materiality and artisanal perfection. Whether this will remain a one-off project or be the beginning of something bigger is still open, but the passion for objects and furniture design has always been there and continues to grow.

Our team

Okyo is not a classic interior design studio, but a place where design, craftsmanship and execution come together into a powerful whole. Each project begins with an extensive conversation, an idea, lines set with precision, but only when all the proportions and materials are balanced does it become a design that is right.

Within our team of interior designers, project managers and specialists every detail is carefully considered. Jochen Magyar is personally involved in every design, going over every line and proportion with the team. Nothing is left to chance and every choice must be justifiable. We work together on every project to unite different perspectives to achieve one strong and thoughtful end result.
A design is not presented until we fully support it ourselves.

Passion drives us, craftsmanship shapes us, and perfection is what we strive for.
